Cascade Clamps - Established in Portland, Oregon in the year 1943, the Cascade Manufacturing Company started as a small machine store employing just four people. Total sales for that initial year amounted to about 60 thousand dollars. The very first recorded sales revenues involved the machining and assembly of stainless steel pipe fittings, valves and various components. Within five years of operation, the business had expanded to 40 employees and their annual sales volume had increased to three hundred thirty thousand dollars. At present, Cascade is amongst the top worldwide makers in the material handling trade.
Production and design of the company's original hydraulic cylinder paved the way in Cascade's aggressive pursuit of better business opportunities. Over the past 60 years, the material handling business has developed into a very complex area and Cascade has proudly played a part on this development. Cascade presently continues to develop as the premier supplier of lift truck attachments and different related items. In the 1950's, Cascade began designing, making and advertising hydraulic attachments. Manufacturing was finished in 1956 on a brand new facility so as to house all the plant and office operations in Portland, Oregon at the company's present center of operations. After fifteen years of business, total workers reached 180 staff and sales had reached almost 2.3 million dollars.
A second production plant was built in 1959 in Springfield, Ohio. nineteen sixty marked Cascade's preliminary move into the global world of the material handling industry as the company established interest in Australia, the Netherlands and England.
The company changed its name to Cascade Corporation in the year 1964. In 1965, Cascade went public with an initial offering of two hundred thousand shares of common stock. The company has expanded its manufacturing facilities throughout the United States with locations in Portland, Oregon, Springfield, Ohio, and Warner Robins, Georgia. Cascade products are fabricated worldwide due to many subsidiary operations. In 1994, a brand new plant was completed in Almere, the Netherlands which is Cascade's European control center. This facility is built to be the ultimate customer support centre.
Continuing to develop, Cascade expanded their product offering further in the year 1996 and the year 1997 with the dramatic acquisition of five companies, including the global best in blades, the Kenhar Corporation.
